DESCRIPTION

This simulator provides immersive training on best practices and safety protocols to be followed in chemical laboratories in order to prevent accidents and ensure a rapid and effective response in the event of an emergency.

OBJECTIVE

Teaching people how to identify, prevent and respond to various hazardous situations, thereby ensuring a safer working environment.

ACTIVITIES

  • Identification, review and provision of the PPE required for working in a chemical laboratory.
  • Implementation of response protocols and first aid procedures for various types of laboratory fires, including general fires as well as those involving containers and work surfaces, through the proper use of fire extinguishers, watch glasses and fire blankets.
  • Safe handling of acids and alkalis:
    • Practice in the proper identification, handling and storage of chemicals, as well as in the correct use of specific containers and personal protective equipment.
    • Implementation of safety protocols and procedures for dealing with chemical spills, minimising risks to people and the environment.
    • Procedure to follow in the event of exposure to chemical vapours or splashes in the eyes, including the correct use of emergency eye wash stations, reporting the incident and seeking medical attention.
