DESCRIPTION
The simulator transports students to the premises of a Technical Vehicle Inspection Centre, where they must inspect the various mechanical components involved in the process and identify any potential faults. In addition, they are taught the essential maintenance procedures for a vehicle.
OBJECTIVE
To help students understand the Technical Vehicle Inspection process and teach them how to identify the various mechanical components of vehicles and their potential faults without the need for a real-world setting.
ACTIVITIES
- Undertaking the Technical Vehicle Inspection to ensure that the car meets the established safety and emissions requirements:
- Checking of registration number and chassis number.
- Windscreen inspection.
- Checking the wing mirrors.
- Light check.
- Checking the alignment and condition of the wheels.
- Emissions test.
- Brake check.
- Identification of mechanical components, determining their location and function within the overall vehicle system.
- Fault detection to identify potential faults or wear and tear in components that are not visible from the outside.
- Practical training in essential vehicle maintenance tasks:
- Oil change.
- Liquid control.
- Replacement of windscreen wipers.
- Adjusting tyre pressure.
