DESCRIPTION

Simulator aimed at training nursing assistants specialized in patients under one year of age that allows the practice of techniques that are difficult to carry out in an educational environment, such as caring for a newborn and vaccinating children.

OBJECTIVE

To teach, in a realistic way, the procedures and good practices of a nursing assistant in the care of babies under one year of age.

ACTIVITIES

  • Care of a newborn:
    • Choice of specific hygiene products for these patients.
    • Hygiene and care of the newborn, taking into account safe techniques for its realization.
    • Cleaning and care procedures for the umbilical cord.
    • Postpartum health education. Includes aspects such as postpartum recovery, breastfeeding support and guidance on artificial feeding, creating a safe environment for the newborn…
  • Childhood vaccination: The student must administer the hexavalent vaccine (Infanrix) and the pneumococcal vaccine (Prevenar 13) to an eleven-month-old child following the complete protocol:
    • Verification of the status of the vaccine: expiry date, proper storage and type of vaccine.
    • Preparation of the necessary material for the application.
    • Intramuscular or subcutaneous administration technique as appropriate.
    • Management of mild adverse reactions and guidance to parents on post-vaccination care.
