DESCRIPTION
The simulator allows users to experience first-hand the gender, age and racial discrimination suffered by a 45-year-old woman of African descent with a solid academic and professional background who aspires to hold a management position in a technology company. In addition, this provides an opportunity to hear the account of the person who has experienced discrimination, allowing a more detailed analysis of the situation.
OBJECTIVE
Fostering empathy and awareness of the dynamics of workplace discrimination, raising students’ awareness of the importance of diversity, inclusion and equity in corporate environments.
ACTIVITIES
Through the various activities offered by the simulator, students develop the following soft skills:
- Empathy and awareness: Identifying and analysing instances of discrimination and microaggressions in the workplace, and understanding how prejudices and stereotypes affect people in different professional roles.
- Awareness of diversity and inclusion: A reflection on the importance of ensuring equal opportunities and fostering the integration of diverse perspectives within work teams, while promoting respectful and collaborative environments.
- Conflict resolution and emotional management: Developing the ability to recognise, manage and channel one’s own emotions in the face of discriminatory situations, encouraging balanced and constructive responses.
- Critical analysis and personal reflection: Conscious evaluation of one’s own attitudes, behaviours and decisions, analysing their impact on the workplace atmosphere and their contribution to creating an inclusive environment.
