DESCRIPTION
This simulator is designed to provide a safe, sustainable and practical learning environment that allows students to familiarise themselves with the procedures involved in using a Universal Testing Machine (UTM) to carry out key mechanical tests such as tensile, compression and bending testing.
OBJECTIVE
Teaching the methods for assessing deformation, stress, ultimate strength and the ability to withstand specific loads in different materials.
ACTIVITIES
- Tensile test: Analysis of the behaviour of metal specimens under tensile forces.
- Selection and measurement of test specimens.
- Setting the parameters on the test equipment.
- Conducting the test and documenting the results.
- Stress vs. Deformation Graphic.
- Compression test: Evaluation of cylindrical concrete materials under compressive loads.
- Adjustment of the machine and the test discs.
- Determination of the maximum compressive strength.
- Force vs. Deformation Graphic.
- Bending test: Evaluation of wooden beams subjected to a load applied at three points.
- Fitting the bars into the brackets.
- Plot of the bending moment versus displacement.
