DESCRIPTION
An educational simulator that allows users to take a virtual tour of a wastewater treatment plant (WWTP), learning about its key data and the main stages of water treatment. It includes an explanation of the slurry and gas lines, as well as maintenance tasks and assessment activities.
OBJECTIVE
Allowing students to understand the overall functioning of a wastewater treatment plant and gain a comprehensive technical understanding of wastewater treatment.
ACTIVITIES
- Virtual tour of a wastewater treatment plant that allows users to learn about the most important details of the facility and the four main stages the water goes through, via explanations and interactive points.
- Pre-treatment: screening, desanding and degreasing.
- Primary treatment: decanting.
- Secondary or biological treatment.
- Tertiary treatment: filtration and disinfection.
- An explanation of the components, operation and objectives of the sludge and gas lines in a wastewater treatment plant:
- Connection to the water supply.
- Anaerobic digestion.
- Biogas tanks.
- Eco-generation engine.
- Cleaning and maintenance procedure for the water intake pumps at the treatment plant.
- Assessment activity to consolidate the knowledge gained during the experience.
