DESCRIPTION
Simulator for developing skills in basic care and personal care. It allows users to practice skills related with assisted feeding, personal hygiene, the administration of treatments and personalised care in a realistic virtual environment.
OBJECTIVE
To equip students to provide comprehensive, safe and respectful care, developing technical, communication and organisational skills in the social and healthcare sector.
ACTIVITIES
- Support with eating for patients with varying levels of independence. We provide diets adapted to clinical needs, as well as enteral feeding via a nasogastric tube, jejunostomy or gastrostomy.
- Personal hygiene adapted to each patient’s level of dependency and mobility:
- Personal hygiene for patients with reduced mobility in the shower and in an adapted bath.
- Hygiene for bedridden patients.
- Cleaning of the eyes, ears, mouth and hair; skin care; genital hygiene; washing of hands and feet; management of bodily waste; and changing of clothes and bedding.
- Application of basic treatment techniques, following the appropriate protocols, communicating effectively with the patient and recording the actions taken:
- The administration of aerosol therapy and oxygen therapy through the correct use of equipment and the preparation of the necessary materials.
- Administration of medicines orally, topically or via enema.
- The use of hot and cold therapies for therapeutic purposes.
