DESCRIPTION

The simulator replicates an industrial printed circuit board manufacturing plant, with the aim of allowing students to acquire essential knowledge of assembly processes and to practice basic techniques for assembling, inspecting and checking electronic circuit boards in an immersive environment.

OBJECTIVE

Developing skills in the use of automated processes and specialist tools employed in the manufacture of printed circuit boards, preparing students for work in a realworld environment.

ACTIVITIES

  • Introduction to and operation of an automated assembly line: It allows understanding of the main components and the different stages of the process, as well as the importance of each step in determining the final quality of the product. In addition, the critical points in the assembly are identified and guidance is provided on how to optimise them to ensure efficient and reliable performance.
  • Defect detection on circuit boards using AOI and X-rays, learning to visually identify genuine faults and false positives, understanding their causes and consequences, and taking the appropriate action in each case.
  • Review and correction of tropicalised circuit boards to ensure they meet customer requirements and standards for quality and resistance to harsh environments, emphasising the importance of attention to detail and compliance with technical specifications in the electronics industry.
  • Manual soldering and desoldering of electronic components: Training in the basic techniques for the assembly and repair of electronic circuit boards, ranging from the identification and preparation of equipment to the performance of various practical soldering and desoldering exercises, applying the appropriate technique in each case depending on the material and the level of complexity of the assembly.
