Universal Testing Machine

Universal Testing Machine

RECOMMENDATION

Virtual classroom

To carry out the simulator exercises, a clear space of at least 3×3 meters is required.

If you have any questions about this or any other topic, please do not hesitate to contact us.

DESCRIPTION

This simulator is designed to offer a safe, sustainable and practical learning environment that allows students to internalize the procedures to be carried out in a Universal Testing Machine (UTM) to perform basic mechanical tests such as traction, compression and flexion.

OBJECTIVE

To teach the procedures for evaluating deformation, stress, maximum resistance and the capacity to support specific loads in different materials.

ACTIVITIES

  • Tensile test: Analysis of the behavior of metal test pieces under stretching forces.
    • Selection and measurement of test pieces.
    • Configuration of the parameters in the testing equipment.
    • Carrying out the test and documenting the results.
    • Stress vs. Deformation graph.
  • Compression test: Evaluation of cylindrical concrete materials under compressive loads.
    • Adjustment of the machine and the test disks.
    • Determination of the maximum compressive strength.
    • Force vs. Deformation graph.
  • Bending test: Evaluation of wooden bars subjected to a load applied at three points.
    • Placement of the bars in the supports.
    • Recording of the bending moment against displacement.
