DESCRIPTION
In this simulator, students will learn how to carry out activities related to cleaning and disinfecting a hospital: sterilizing equipment, cleaning the patient’s room, collecting samples, etc.
OBJECTIVE
To show the processes to be carried out in terms of hygiene and cleanliness in a hospital, such as the sterilization of medical equipment, the care of the patient unit or the protocols to follow for a patient in isolation.
ACTIVITIES
- Sterilization of medical equipment: A critical process in any medical care environment, as it guarantees the elimination of microorganisms.
- Reception and classification of equipment.
- Preliminary inspection, checking for possible damage or wear and tear that could compromise its safety and functionality.
- Packaging of instruments: Chemical control and sterilization.
- Care of the patient unit, crucial to guaranteeing the patient’s well-being and for the prevention of infections.
- Preparing the linen for different types of bed: changing sheets and pillowcases.
- Cleaning and tidying the patient’s unit, maintaining optimal hygienic conditions.
- Measures to prevent the transmission of infectious diseases with patients in isolation:
- Hand washing technique.
- Selection and placement of the necessary PPE, csuch as mask, gloves, shoe covers, etc.
- Collection of urine and stool samples:
- Correct identification and labeling of samples before collection.
- Use of sterile containers and proper collection techniques to avoid contamination.
